Summary of violence
The ancient Olympic games were a clear display of violence. Although the Olympic games were in honour of the Greek god Zeus, the avid display of violence overpowered many of the religious aspects. This violence can be seen in many examples:
- Countless animal sacrifices
- Brutality in sporting events
- Deaths caused in sporting events
- Enjoyment out of almost rule-less combating events
- Violent judging punishments
- Public death penalties for women
